Disciplinary Approaches to Composing Texts

Documentation in Justice Administration

by Dr. BC Franson

A common citation method used in the field of sociology is the American Sociological Association style or ASA style citations. Another popular method used within both disciplines is the American Psychological Association or APA style citations.

Why documentation is important

Documentation is an important aspect of scholarly research and development in the discipline of sociology and corrections. Documentation of research findings is an important aspect of maintaining objectivity, neutrality, and the preparation and support of evidence. These forms of documentation are important because they maintain uniformity of evidence building, and establish common techniques for supporting scholarly arguments.

The documentation and exploration of social life requires that such practices are steeped in the scientific method, and the collection of data is accurately documented and supported by previous scholarly research accepted in the field.
