Why Writing Works

Disciplinary Approaches to Composing Texts

Documentation in Education

By Dr. Rhonda Bonnstetter

The field of education uses the APA citation format. Candidates are expected to include in-text citation and a references list for all class assignments. Documentation for the citation includes the author’s name, year of publication, the title of the work, where the work was published and by whom. This documentation is important in order to provide credit to the work’s creator and to allow those reading to follow up on a citation for more information.

Documentation reflects the values of Education

The values held in educational research are similar to those in a variety of fields, even if the type of citation format differs.
